As I'm sure most of you have heard...Wade was admitted to the hospital this past week. He threw up at daycare on Wednesday afternoon and Vicky called me. I had her take his temp and he was running a 101 temp. The last time we were at the doctor they told us if he ever ran a temp that we needed to bring him in ASAP. St. Charles was full for the day and since Kenna was running a 102 temp I figured I would go into urgent care and get both of them taken care of and then head back home to make Robbie a birthday dinner and cake. Well....things didn't go as smoothly as planned. First I need to shout out a huge thank you to Janelle and Tim who watched B all night and Kenna for a couple hours. They said yes to watching B with all of thinking it would be an hour or 2. When the triage nurse looked at Wade he felt is was an ER visit, so we were rushed into the ER. They hooked him up to oxygen immediately and started neb treatments on him. He also had blood drawn, an RSV test done, and an X-Ray. All of his tests came back normal, but they were not happy with how he was responding to the neb treatments so they had to call the pediatrician in. Once she got to the hospital she determined that he needed to be admitted.
During all of this Kenna was still being seen under 'urgent care' in the ER. Her respiration's seemed to be a bit in distress so they wanted to do an X-Ray on her also. Her X-Ray, however, came back with white fluffy stuff on her lung. He said that it was bronchopneumonia. She is on a medicine and seems to be feeling better.
Wade has been a trooper through all of this. The anesthesiologist was called in because he was dehydrated and no one could hit a vein for his IV. He has being woke up every 2 hour for neb treatments. Needs constant oxygen on him, and is in an O2 tent. He is staying tonight and they are reassessing tomorrow. He IS getting better, but the doctor said it's going slowly. His wheeze is still pretty evident and I think they want that a little more under control before they would send him home. When I know more I will write more. Right now he is just snoozing under his tent. Thanks to all of you for your prayers and kind words during this time!
snoozing under his tent with Kenna blankie! She left it for him to sleep with :)
